As Paul begins to bring his epistle to a close, he exhorts the church to “be strong in the Lord and in the strength of his might” (Eph. 6:10). He masterfully weaves together the many themes present throughout the letter in order to encourage the saints to put on the gospel armor of God in its entirety, to stand firm, and to pray fervently at all times. But how does one stand firm in the Lord? Why does Paul describe God’s armor as he does? What does it mean to pray at all times in the Spirit? And what exactly are we to pray for? In this sermon, Pastor Leandre demonstrates that believers are to confront the spiritual forces of evil in the confident assurance of God’s Word – the gospel of Jesus Christ – praying that the mystery of the gospel may be proclaimed boldly.
