Community Groups an integral part of church life at ECC and our goal of making disciples and changing our community.
What are Community Groups?
Throughout the week, different small groups gather in various locations to experience life, centered on God’s Word, together. These groups consist of about 10-15 people who meet for around 90 minutes* to enjoy fellowship and prayer, to eat and laugh, and to discover the life-changing truths of Scripture together as we discuss the sermon from Sunday (Acts 2:42).
Community Groups are for our whole church family—whether single or married, kids or no kids, young or old. Parents are encouraged to bring their children with them, that they might continue to see our church family rejoicing in the gospel of Jesus Christ together. And while these groups are intended for the edification of our church, others are always welcome to attend.
Why Join a Group?
We strongly believe that Christianity is not merely an individual matter but a corporate one, and that the Christian life can be fully realized only in relation to others. Joining a community group is an effective way to become a devoted disciple of Jesus, growing in our commitment to Christ and to each other. It provides a practical way for you to fulfill the commands of Scripture to “bear one another’s burdens” (Gal. 6:2) and to “exhort one another every day, as long as it is called ‘today,’ that none of you may be hardened by the deceitfulness of sin” (Heb. 3:13). Community groups are simply the best way to experience life and get connected at ECC.
How do I Join a Community Group?
Our community groups meet throughout the week across Elmira, Pine City, Corning, and Athens.
