Jesus promised that He would build His Church and that the gates of hell would not prevail against it (Matt. 16:18;). We believe Jesus has kept His word and that evidences our Lord’s promise of the gospel bearing fruit in the world (cf. Col 1:5-6) are seen in the historical creeds and confessions that faithful believers composed to accurately define and defend God’s Word. These ancient Christian creeds and confessions provide a “grammar” for us to speak faithfully and biblically about the triune God and the gospel of Jesus Christ.

We believe these documents hold a derivative authority to Scripture, are fallible, and are not rivals to Scripture. At the same time, however, our commitment to Sola Scriptura does not mean that we read the Bible by ourselves or have nothing to learn from Christians who have gone before us (cf. Eph 4:4).

In light of this, we joyfully stand along side our brothers and sisters in Christ throughout the ages and affirm these creeds and confessions which accurately reflect and summarize the Scriptures.
