A Portrait of a Spirit-Filled Church (Acts 2:42-47)

One of the most convincing proofs that the risen Lord Jesus had poured out the promised Holy Spirit can be seen in the events following Peter’s sermon on Pentecost. Luke not only records that those who received Peter’s words were baptized were added to the church (v.41), but he also gives a comprehensive portrait of the daily life of this new spirit-filled community. This portrait shows that the restored people of God are those who not only obey the word of their King, but love his people and rely on his power. In this sermon, Pastor Matt explains that a true, Spirit-filled church is a community of believers who are joyfully devoted to gospel doctrine, to genuine fellowship, and to fervent prayer.
