What does the church need for effective witness in the world today? Do we need celebrity pastors to attract ‘seekers’ with inspiring messages? How about awesome worship ‘experiences’ that merely copy the world’s entertainment? Do we need a fresh demonstration of signs and wonders? Or should we keep quiet on the sound doctrine that the world finds offensive? A more biblical answer to this question can be found in Acts 2 and the beginning of Peter’s sermon, where he explains Pentecost by recalling Joel’s prophecy of the Spirit being poured out in the last days. In this sermon, Mitch Bedzyk explains that God has given us all we need for effective witness to the gospel of Jesus Christ by giving us his word and his Spirit.
