Throughout the Bible, God often gave his rebellious people powerful reminders of his holiness through judgment. For instance, after Aaron and his sons were set apart as priests, Nadab and Abihu offered strange fire and were consumed. Why? The word of the Lord after their death says it all: “Among those who are near me I will be sanctified, and before all the people I will be glorified” (Lev. 10:3). The account of Ananias and Sapphira in Acts serves as such a reminder. In this sermon, Pastor Matt reminds us that the church is to be characterized by the love and the holiness of God. Not only are God’s people to grow in grace, but they are to serve the Lord with fear and display to the world the character of our holy God.
