The book of Acts is the story of all that the risen Lord Jesus continued to do and teach through the witness of his church in the power of his Spirit. In chapters 1-12, Luke focuses on the growing church in Jerusalem and the spread of the gospel throughout Judea and Samaria. In chapters 13-28, his focus is on the name of Jesus being carried to “the end of the earth” (Acts 1:8). In this sermon, Pastor Matt demonstrates that the church is to be a community that not only believes the good news of Jesus but is devoted to seeing his gospel proclaimed to all nations. God has a people for his mission in the world, a church that will make his name glorious and the nations glad. Regardless of our specific gifts or callings, Christians are those sent out by our risen King for the work of gospel ministry.
