Toward the end of the apostle Paul’s life, as he wrote to encourage his son in the faith, Timothy, he recalls the challenges he faced on his various missionary journeys. In particular, he mentions the sufferings he endured at Iconium and Lystra, which are described by Luke in Acts 14. This leads him to make a profound conclusion: “Indeed, all who desire to live a godly life in Christ Jesus will be persecuted” (2 Tim. 3:10-12). Scripture is abundantly clear that all of us who seek to live for and please our Lord and Savior will face adversity for the sake of the gospel. In this sermon, Mitch Bedzyk describes the challenges of gospel ministry and the boldness, clarity, and persistence needed for us to be faithful witnesses to the risen Lord Jesus.
