Martyn Lloyd-Jones once said: “The most urgent need in the Christian Church today is true preaching; and as it is the greatest and most urgent need in the Church, it is obviously the greatest need of the world also.” Why? Because only in the word of God do we discover man’s real need and God’s great salvation. While the world, and even the entertainment-driven church, is preoccupied with physical and temporal needs, our greatest needs are spiritual and eternal. In this sermon, Pastor Matt explains that the primary ministry of the church is the prayerful preaching of God’s word. If sinners are ever to become obedient to the faith and the church built up in love, disciples of Jesus Christ must rely upon prayer and the Spirit working through the word.
