The Reason for the Hope, part 1 (Acts 24:1-27)

Acts Sermon Series at Elmira Christian Center

When Paul stood before the high priest and the Jewish council, he said: “It is with respect to the hope and the resurrection of the dead that I am on trial” (Acts 23:6). Over and over, Paul makes this same assertion in his defense speeches in Acts. But why did he understand his all his trials to be about this one singular issue? It’s because Paul believed the gospel and knew that at the center of all human history stands the risen Lord Jesus. In this sermon, Pastor Matt preaches that the truth of the resurrection of Jesus demands a response from the world. How we respond to him now will determine where we will stand on the last day when God sets the world right: either raised to everlasting life with Christ, or raised to everlasting death.
