In a world darkened by division and hostility, and while our nation is proving to be anything but “indivisible,” the church of the risen Lord Jesus is to be a radiant light of reconciliation, unity, and love. This is because Christians are a people united by saving grace (see Ephesians 2). However, it is all too often the case that the bitter disunity that darkens our world appears within the community of the redeemed, dimming—and sometimes even all but extinguishing—the light of the gospel of Christ. In this sermon, Pastor Matt teaches that through the gospel, God is creating a people for himself united by saving grace. The church is to be a reconciled people bringing glory to God’s name in the world by their unity, their fellowship, and their joy together.
