The Psalmist declares: “Our God is in the heavens; he does all that he pleases” (Psalm 115:3). Yet one of the staggering truths of Scripture is that our sovereign God is pleased to unfold his unchanging plans through prayer; the Almighty has purposed to act in response to the prayers of his people. And we see this all throughout the book of Acts, as the church devoted themselves to prayer and saw God respond in powerful ways. In this sermon, Pastor Matt shows explains that bold gospel witness is only possible when we depend upon our sovereign God in prayer. We need God the Holy Spirit to convince us of the truth of the gospel and to assure us of the promises of the gospel that we might be compelled by the love of Christ.
