And Psalm 98—famously known as the inspiration for the Christmas hymn, “Joy to the World”—illustrates this beautifully. Here we find a song of joy and victory for all of God’s people and even all of creation reminding us of the basic truth that the Lord alone is worthy to be praised for his acts of salvation and judgment. And a God who is worthy to be praised is worthy to be trusted. And a God that is worthy to be trusted is worthy to be obeyed.
