Continuing to emphasize the importance of the Church in God’s plan of redemption and the life of the believer, Paul explains the diverse gifts of grace given to the body of Christ for its continued spiritual growth and sanctification. Each member of the household of God has a unique role to play in the edification of the body in order that we all might “grow up in every way into him who is the head, into Christ, from whom the whole body, joined and held together by every joint with which it is equipped, when each part is working properly, makes the body grow so that it builds itself up in love” (Eph. 4:15-16). In this sermon, Pastor Dave encourages the church to do the work of the ministry and to strive, by God’s grace, to “attain to the unity of the faith and of the knowledge of the Son of God” (Eph. 4:13).
