As we read through Ephesians 1:3-14, seeing and savoring all of the wonderful spiritual blessings that are ours in Christ Jesus, we are presented with a stunning description of the Triune nature of God and the specific work of each Person in the Godhead. Moreover, this passage also encompasses all history, all people, and all things from eternity past to eternity future. It is one continuous, flowing description of the sovereignty, unity, and wisdom of God in the redemption of sinners and his purpose for all creation. But what is God’s purpose in creation, in redemption, in all that he does? In this sermon, Pastor Matt shows how the work of our Triune God, “who works all things according to the counsel of his will” (Eph 1:11; 5, 9), is ultimately “to the praise of his glory” (Eph 1:6, 12, 14).
