Just in case the Galatians were still unclear of what Paul had been arguing for in the last few verses – that the entirety of our salvation is by faith in Christ alone, who became a curse for us “so that in Christ Jesus the blessing of Abraham might come to the Gentiles, so that we might receive the promised Spirit through faith” (Gal. 3:14) – he now provides an illustration for them to better understand his point. Paul, relying extensively upon the Old Testament scriptures and the progression of redemptive history, makes an important reference to the promises made to Abraham. In this sermon, Pastor Matt explains the significance of the covenant promises made to Abraham, how they apply to us today, and the profound relationship that exists between promise and law.
