Isaiah proclaimed a message not only of judgment against those who persisted in their rebellion against God, but of hope to the faithful remnant living in deep darkness. He delivered the God-given promise of a coming great light that would dawn on the world. Now while the hope of this world is only preferred possibility, mixed with uncertainty, the believer’s hope is confident expectation, because the zeal of the Lord of hosts always does what he decrees. In this sermon, Keith Ryoo shows that Jesus Christ came as the Shining Son that the world, darkened by sin, might know the saving love of God. Jesus, the Light of the world, is the reason for our joyful hope, for he is our Wonderful Counselor, Mighty God, Everlasting Father, and Prince of Peace.
