Following John’s preaching of the soon-coming Messiah, “the next day he saw Jesus coming toward him, and said, ‘Behold, the Lamb of God, who takes away the sin of the world'” (John 1:29)! Yet Jesus came that day to be baptized himself by John and demonstrate the perfect obedience by which he would fulfill all righteousness. As he came up out of the water, the voice of God proclaimed from the heavens that this Jesus was the only-begotten Son of God with whom the Father was well pleased, and he was anointed by the Spirit for ministry. In this sermon, Pastor Dave explores the significance of Jesus’ baptism and heavenly proclamation, imploring the church to believe that Jesus Christ is truly God, the Son, who is worthy to be praised and obeyed even unto death.
