The mission of John the Baptist was to prepare the way for the Lord, to announce the coming of the Messiah. But how exactly would this Messiah come? How could a child be born who would be the fulfillment of Isaiah 9:6-7, being both a Davidic king yet also Mighty God and the Everlasting Father? The answer is found in the Virgin Birth. Mary was told by Gabriel that she would conceive and bear a son by the Holy Spirit, who would “be called holy—the Son of God” (Luke 1:35). Here, once again, God proves faithful to his covenant promises and demonstrates that absolutely nothing is impossible for Him. In this sermon, Pastor Dave encourages the church to hear, receive, and believe the glorious good news with all eagerness and joy like Mary, who proclaimed: ” I am the servant of the Lord; let it be to me according to your word” (Luke 1:38).
