Advent is the annual celebration of the coming of the Lord Jesus. Yet it’s not just a time for remembering his first advent—his coming in humility to die; it is also a time of waiting for his second advent—his coming in glory to reign. In a world full of darkness, the believer eagerly awaits the dawn of the resurrection, when Christ will come to make all things new. Yet we often grow tired of waiting. In our hearts, we question whether God will really do all that he’s promised. We are often grow weary in well-doing and become discouraged. In this sermon, Pastor Matt encourages us to remember not only the death and burial of Jesus, but our hope that if we have been united with him in his death, we will one day be united with him in his resurrection.
