The True Sight of the Blind Beggar (Luke 18:31-43)

The story of the blind beggar in Luke 18:31-43 is most often considered as being just another miracle story: Jesus gives a blind man physical sight. However, in our sermon series through Luke’s gospel we have seen over and over again how there’s more to Jesus’ miracle-working ministry than just physical healing. What we see in this passage is a symbolic picture of salvation: passing from darkness to light through faith in Jesus, glorifying God, and following him. We also see that it is a blind man who truly sees who Jesus really is: Son of David and merciful Lord. In this sermon, pastor Dave explains how this miracle serves as a beautiful illustration of our salvation through faith alone in Christ Jesus alone for God’s glory alone.
