Look What God Has Done in Rome (Romans 16:1-16)

Having explained his reasons for gospel ministry and laid out his plans for future travel, Paul now sends his greetings to the chuch as he prepares to visit them and work with them to take the gospel to Spain. But this long list of greetings doesn’t make for the most exciting reading, and can make us think “what could the point of this passage possibly be?”

In this sermon, instead of spending time on conjecture about this list of names, pastor Matt helps us see that the manifold wisdom and saving power of God is made known through the church of Christ. More than just providing a portrait of the church at Rome, Paul’s greetings reveal what God has done through the gospel of his Son in Rome, and what he continues to do in the world today.
