This is the first sermon in a three-week series on the mission of ECC. Disciples of Jesus are made when the members of the church, the body of Christ, experience life centered on God’s Word together. In Acts, we see the early church experiencing life together as “they devoted themselves to the apostles’ teaching and the fellowship, to the breaking of bread and the prayers” (Acts 2:42). Whether in our weekly Lord’s Day gatherings, in community groups, or in one-on-one discipleship, it is our goal that every believer be prayerfully speaking God’s word to each other (Eph. 4:15-16; Heb. 3:12-13). In this sermon Pastor Dave explains that Christianity is a corporate matter and that the Christian life can be fully realized only in relation to others.
