Paul, writing to the Corinthian church, summarizes the gospel of our salvation: Christ died for our sins in accordance with the Scriptures, he was buried, and he was raised on the third day in accordance with the Scriptures (1 Cor. 15:3-4). Though the spotless Lamb of God was slain to take away the sins of the world, three days later God raised him from the dead. Because of Christ’s perfect obedience and atoning death on our behalf, he satisfied the wrath of God and redeemed us from the curse of the law: “The sting of death is sin, and the power of sin is the law. But thanks be to God, who gives us the victory through our Lord Jesus Christ” (1 Cor. 15:56-57). In this Easter Sunday sermon, Pastor Dave proclaims the good news of salvation by grace through faith in Christ alone, imploring all who hear the word of Christ to be reconciled to God; today is the day of salvation!
