In Acts, the power to heal was given by the risen Lord Jesus to his apostles to lay the foundation of the church (Acts 2:43; Eph. 2:20). These miracles were redemptive signs that accompanied the preaching of the gospel and validated their message. And like all signs, they pointed to something else; they pointed to Jesus—risen, enthroned, and making all things new. Having just healed a beggar who was lame from birth, and seeing the awestruck crowds that now gathered around them, Peter seizes the opportunity to bear witness to Christ. In this sermon, Pastor Matt unpacks the significance of the miracle at the Beautiful Gate, showing that repentant sinners receive all the blessings of salvation by faith in the name of Jesus.
