Who are the people of God today? Who can say, “The Lord is our God and we are his people”? Scripture declares that, after the fall of Adam and Eve in the garden, God graciously chose a people for himself out of all the nations of the world to be his treasured possession, obeying his voice and keeping his covenant (Gen. 12:2-3; Ex. 19:4-6). Yet while Israel repeatedly failed to be faithful to the Lord, God promised to one day restore his covenant people under the reign of his anointed King. But the coming of Christ—Jesus of Nazareth—changed everything.
