Who are the people of God today? Who can say, “The Lord is our God and we are his people”? Scripture declares that, after the fall of Adam and Eve in the garden, God graciously chose a people for himself out of all the nations of the world to be his treasured possession, obeying his voice and keeping his covenant (Gen. 12:2-3; Ex. 19:4-6). Yet while Israel repeatedly failed to be faithful to the Lord, God promised to one day restore his covenant people under the reign of his anointed King. But the coming of Christ—Jesus of Nazareth—changed everything. In this sermon, Pastor Matt unpacks the conclusion of Peter’s gospel proclamation in Acts 3, showing that the true people of God are those who call upon the risen Lord Jesus in faith to be saved.
