Galatians 4:13 is crucial in our understanding of suffering in the life of believers: “You know it was because of a bodily ailment that I preached the gospel to you at first.” For the Apostle Paul, suffering is most definitely to be included in the “all things”, of Romans 8:28-29, that work together to bring us into conformity to the image of Christ for the glory of God! Yet so often today believers are quick to despise such a view of suffering and the sovereign purposes of God, accepting a health and wealth theology, a prosperity gospel, in its place. In this sermon, Pastor Leandre looks at the heartfelt words of Paul to his brothers and sisters in Galatia and demonstrates that the true burden of a gospel minister is that Christ be formed in all the saints – even if that must necessarily include walking the path of suffering (2 Cor. 1:3-11; 6:3-10; 12:7-10).
