As Paul continues to recount his experiences in Jerusalem, we learn that the gospel message he had been proclaiming – of justification by faith alone for both the Jew and Gentile – was ultimately accepted by the other Apostles: “when James and Cephas and John, who seemed to be pillars, perceived the grace that was given to me, they gave the right hand of fellowship to Barnabas and me, that we should go to the Gentiles and they to the circumcised.” In this sermon, Pastor Leandre looks at this illustration of gospel fellowship and explains the significance of preaching in a particular cultural context and that we be united in our love towards others, especially the poor and disadvantaged.
