As Paul begins his letter to the Galatians, his feelings are unmistakable: “I am astonished that you are so quickly deserting him who called you in the grace of Christ and are turning to a different gospel” (Gal. 1:6). He is quick to address the fact that the Galatians, by adding good works as a condition for receiving salvation, were in all actuality distorting, perverting, and even reversing the gospel – making it no gospel at all. By adding to the finished work of Christ, they were rejecting the foundational truth that Jesus is enough. In this sermon, Pastor Dave examines just what went wrong with the churches, how good works as a requirement for salvation ultimately destroys the good news, and explains how the salvation of sinners is by the grace of God alone.
