“Do you think that I have come to give peace on earth? No, I tell you, but rather division” (Luke 12:51). This is one of the more obscure mission statements that Jesus gave during his earthly ministry. While it is true that Jesus is the Prince of Peace (Isa. 9:6)—who came to provide the way for sinful man to be reconciled to and peace with God—he is also the Great Divider, who came to bring division between the inhabitants of the kingdom of God and the kingdom of this world. The question, therefore, is simple: to which kingdom will we choose to belong? In this sermon, Pastor Matt explains the severity of the crisis of kingdom we face, and how our greatest need is to have our infinite debt of sin fully paid through faith in the finished work of Jesus Christ.
