Many inspiring sermons have been preached on Isaiah chapter 6, most concluding with a call to respond like Isaiah did: “Here I am! Send me.” Yet, these types of sermons fail to explain the nature of Isaiah’s prophetic ministry, that he was to “make the heart of this people dull, and their ears heavy, and blind their eyes; lest they see with their eyes, and hear with their ears, and understand with their hearts, and turn and be healed” (Is. 6:10). In this sermon, Pastor Leandre unfolds the significance of Isaiah’s seemingly bleak commission, while pointing us to the blessed promise of God in Isaiah 30:18-21, that he would one day be gracious and grant to his people repentance leading to eternal life.
