The Kingdom of God and the Powers of Darkness (Acts 19:1-20)

Acts Sermon Series at Elmira Christian Center

With the ascension of Jesus and outpouring of his Spirit upon the church, we find ourselves living between the 1st and 2nd comings of Christ. At his first coming, Jesus won the decisive battle of the war against the kingdom of darkness. Now, God’s kingdom is advancing throughout the world, bringing forgiveness and joy to all those who confess Jesus as Lord, until the last day when he destroys death forever. And one of the clearest places where we see this gospel invasion happening is Ephesus in Acts 19. In this sermon, Mitch Bedzyk proclaims that because Jesus reigns as King, Christians can rest assured that God’s kingdom will prevail over this darkened world. Paul’s unique ministry here encourages us today to be always abounding in the work of the Lord.
