Like all the prophets before him, Malachi proclaimed the glories of Jesus Christ, but he does so in a way that is easy to miss. This is not only because he is one of the prophets (who can be difficult to interpret at times) but because he goes about speaking of the advent of Christ by speaking about the coming of the great and terrible Day of the Lord! Yet it’s only against the dark backdrop of this dreadful Day that the story of Christmas can be one of hope and peace on earth. It’s only when we understand God’s holiness and sin’s darkness that the birth of Jesus Christ can be good news of great joy. In this sermon, Pastor Matt preaches that Jesus was born to deliver us from sin’s dark night and bring us into the light of God’s glorious day.
