Today, it is often suggested that Christians are to move past the gospel and on to the so-called “deeper things” of the Christian life. But is this really what Scripture teaches? For Paul, you should not—indeed, you cannot—move past the gospel to deeper things. For what could be deeper than the Father’s love towards us, the Son’s work for us, and the pouring out of the Spirit upon us? “The saying is trustworthy, and I want you to insist on these things, so that those who have believed in God may be careful to devote themselves to good works. These things are excellent and profitable for people” (Titus 3:8). In this sermon, Pastor Dave exhorts the church to insist on the gospel in everything, to preach and believe the good news of salvation in Jesus Christ.
