Evangelical Christians today boldly profess that a person is justified by faith apart from works of the law (Rom 3:28). Yet many believe that in order to keep our right standing before God, to remain “saved”, we must continue in faithful obedience as if it is our own law-keeping and good works that merits righteousness before God! However, Paul is adamant that salvation not only begins by the regenerating work of the Holy Spirit and belief in the gospel by faith, but that “he who began a good work in you will bring it to completion at the day of Christ Jesus” (Phil. 1:6). In this sermon, Pastor Dave Leandre explains how our salvation is secure because of the all-sufficient work of Christ – both his life of perfect obedience and his substitutionary death. This gospel transforms our motivations, by the power of the Spirit, making obedience and pleasing God our heart’s greatest desire.
